The era of big Earth Observation data and open data archives requires novel approaches to access, process and analyse the continuously growing EO record. Part of the solution are cloud-based, distributed and scalable platforms that enable users to efficiently processes large data volumes and derive valuable information through advanced analytical concepts and tools. The objective of this ITT is to initiate the development of a European, cloud-based analytical capability that provides high-level functionality to a range ofdifferent users. Fundamental aspects include seamless spatial-temporal data access, on-the-fly processing capabilities, interactive collaborative development environments, open-source, transparent and documented core analytic functionalities. The functionality should make it easy to bring together EO data with a variety of non EO data sources. This ITT aims at the development of a platform API that allows users to utilize the platform capabilities through different interfaces and environments. The platform capability will build on top of existing cloud infrastructure (DIAS, DataCube, etc.) and should be compatible to different cloud technologies. Thecore API functionalities will serve as building blocks to develop more complex and sophisticated EO applications and tools for a range of different actors including value-adders, scientists and public sector entities. The result will be a versatile and powerful analytic capability that serves the European EO community and strongly fosters innovation through innovative exploitation of the evenincreasing EO data records.
