The Polish Space Agency and the local governments of Rzeszów and Mielec prepared a joint stand of the Polish aviation and space sector at the Paris Air Show in Paris, Le Bourget.
Several dozen entrepreneurs from the Aviation Valley cluster and those associated in the Space Industry Employers' Association benefited from the needs of meetings and conversations from the stand.
Paris Air Show is one of the largest and oldest aviation and space events in the world, gathering representatives of the most important international companies of both sectors every two years. Participation in it is a great opportunity to present and promote the offer of companies from the Polish space and aviation sector, it also creates the opportunity to establish contacts and start discussions about cooperation with foreign partners. This year, more than 20 entities from the Aviation Valley cluster benefited from, among others: PZL Mielec, Safran Transmission Polska, Ultratech, El-Automatyka, Thoni Alutec, Association of the Polish Aviation Industry, Waldrex, Dioxid, Ad- Niemet, Poltra, TW Metals, MB Aerospace or GF Machining Solutions and 4 companies associated in the Union of Space Industry Employers: GMV Innovating Solutions, N7 Mobile, SENER and ITTI.
The official opening of the Polish stand at the Paris Air Show took place on Monday, June 19, 2017 at 10:30. Stanisław Sienko, deputy mayor of Rzeszów, Andrzej Dec, chairman of the City Council of Rzeszów, Marek Paprocki, adviser to the Mayor of Mielec, Marek Bujny, vice-president of the Aviation Valley association and dr Michał Marchewka, director of the Polish Agency's Rzeszow. Information stands on the Polish space sector and promotional materials of domestic companies were available at the stand, and representatives of the hosts - local governments of Rzeszów, Mielec and PAK were answering the visitors' questions. Two special events were also organized: the Aviation Valley cocktail summarizing the effects of its ten-year cooperation with the City of Rzeszów, which took place on the first day of the event and a cocktail organized by the Space Industry Employers' Association on the second market day.
For the Polish Space Agency, the presence at the Paris Air Show was also an opportunity to hold talks with representatives of national space agencies. The Agency's employees also met with representatives of international companies and organizations from the space sector, including participating in a networking breakfast with Belgian companies belonging to the Skywin cluster, organized by the Belgian Embassy in Poland. On Wednesday, representatives of the Agency took part in the event initiating the first edition of the new ESA Space Exploration Masters competition promoting innovative business ideas using achievements related to space exploration for the Earth (The new competition dedicated to Space Exploration for innovative Business Ideas benefitting Earth.). Director Michał Marchewka represented the Polish Space Agency during the meeting of Eurisa, which took place during the fair at the ESA headquarters in Paris. One of the main undertakings of this organization associating national space agencies is a project directed to public administration, aimed at promoting the use of satellite data for the efficient functioning of cities. The 52nd edition of the Paris Air Show was held on June 19-25, 2017. Nearly 2,500 were presented at the event. exhibitors from 50 countries around the world representing the aviation and space industry. The program of the event included exhibitions, conferences, trainings, presentations and business meetings as well as effective air shows.
