PAK president among the speakers of The Space Industry panel during The European Economic Congress 2018

Dr Grzegorz Brona was invited to participate in the discussion panel devoted to the space industry and to present one of “The Visionaries” awards given by “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna“ to leading figures in Polish business. The European Economic Congress in Katowice is the largest business event in Central Europe.

The Space Industry panel took place on Wednesday, May 16th, 2018. Thematic scope of the discussion encompassed such issues as:

  • The European Space Agency (ESA) against the global backdrop. Polish accents,
  • The Polish space sector – an assessment of achievements; prospects; and ambitions. Which way is the future?
  • The space industry in development plans of the government. The Polish Space Strategy. Declarations and practice,
  • Opportunities tailored to capabilities. The roles of corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises, and start-ups,
  • The army – an important business partner. The global perspective, geopolitics, and outlays,
  • Space technologies as a source of innovation in the “ground-based“ economy. From science to business.

Dr Brona concentrated in his addresses on preparations of the National Space Program. He underlined that the program should be realistic and its implementation must utilize already existing public funds rather than additionally charge the state budget. He also stressed the necessity to aline the program with The Polish Space Strategy which assumes the support of national industry, administration and defense by the means of the space technologies.

(Silesian Science and Technology Centre of Aviation Industry), Sławomir Kosieliński - President, “Instytut Mikromakro” Foundation (Fundacja Instytut Mikromakro); Expert, Institute for Market, Consumption and Business Cycles Research – National Research Institute, Robert Nowicki - Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technology, Poland - Deputy Director, Department of Innovation and Adam Piotrowski - President of VIGO System.

Dr Brona also handed one of the awards during “The Visionaries” awards gala. The award granted by "Dziennik Gazeta Prawna" daily newspaper recognizes leading figures in Polish business: company owners and managers who have given proof of visionary thinking, determination and audacity in the management and development of their enterprise. This years prize winners included representatives of such companies as: Adamed, Asseco Poland, Impact Clean Power Technology, Fibrain and Neptis. Grzegorz Brona was the laureate of „The Visionary” award in 2017.

The anniversary 10. edition of the European Economic Congress took place in Katowice on 14-16 May 2018.
The program of the congress included 150 thematic sessions related to international economic cooperation, technologies and trends, investment, society and the economy, labour, education, health, transport, logistics and infrastructure, finances, capital and taxes, energy, the energy industry and climate, local governments, management, the market and trade. Over several hundred speakers and 11 thou visitors participated in the event and the list of the guests included i.a.: Mateusz Morawiecki - Prime Minister of The Republic of Poland, Cecilia Malmström - European Commissioner for Trade, Miguel Arias Cañete - European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy, Andrus Ansip - Vice-President for the Digital Single Market, European Commission; Prime Minister of Estonia in the years 2005–2013, Dominique Ristori - Director-General for Energy, European Commission, Herman Van Rompuy - President Emeritus of the European Council, Prime Minister of Belgium between 2008-2009, Iveta Radičová - Prime Minister of Slovakia between 2010-2012, Jorgos Papandreu - Prime Minister of Greece between 2009-2011, Alexander Stubb - Prime Minister of Finland between 2014-2015, Minister of Finance between 2015-2016, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank, Stepan Kubiv - First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Ukraine and Justina Mutale - Justina Mutale Foundation, African Women of the 2016.
