Three Polish space sector companies awarded during the Vision for Development Forum

The Business Award of the Vision for Development Forum in the Research, Development and Transfer of Modern Technologies category was granted to Astronika, ITTI received the distinction in the E-economy category and the distinction in the Management category went to Hertz Systems.

Awards and distinctions were handed during the Vision for Development Forum, which took place in Gdynia on June 25-26, 2018. 21 companies chosen from several hundred recommended entities were nominated in the contest. The Polish Space Agency has submitted a proposal of candidates for the awards, which was endorsed by the Competition Jury.

The Business Award of the Vision for Development Forum is of honorary nature, with its aim being to promote enterprises for their significant economic achievements, enabling the development of the Polish economy.

Astronika Sp z o.o. won the award in the Research, Development and Transfer of Modern Technologies - an Award for Research Units or Enterprises Implementing Product or Technological Innovation category. The company was founded in 2013, as a spin-out of the Space Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The company designs, constructs, integrates and tests mechanical systems. Astronika successfully competes in projects commissioned by the European Space Agency and implements projects with foreign space agencies and companies. The latest achievement of the company is constructing the propulsion system for the HP3 instrument, which was launched on the InSight probe within the NASA mission to Mars.

In the E-economy - an award for companies implementing or developing IT technologies category ITTI Sp. z o.o. received the distinction. Since 1996 the company has been providing solutions for entities in Poland and abroad in the field of modern IT technologies utilization. So far, ITTI has participated in several ESA projects, including ATENA (Adjusting open Test - Exchange standard to the space domain) and actively operates in the area of SSA (Space Situational Awareness).

In the Management - for Executives, for Whom the Financial Result Is Not the Sole Priority in the Company category, the distinction was awarded to Hertz Systems Ltd Sp. z o. o. The company specializes in GNSS technology, space, security and data exchange systems. Hertz Systems, among other undertakings, worked on a test environment for the Galileo signal generator within the Galileo 2nd Generation Direct L-band signal generation project commissioned by the European Space Agency.

The Competition Jury of the Vision for Development Forum consisted i.a. of representatives of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Investment and Economic Development, Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technology, Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy, Ministry of National Education as well as KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego and PKN ORLEN.

The Vision for Development Forum was this year’s largest economic event in northern Poland. Over 500 lecturers - experts, politicians and local government representatives participated in a two-day series of discussions and debates taking place in the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park in Gdynia and in Gdynia Arena. The subject of the forum concerned the most pressing challenges facing the Polish economy, such as eco-mobility, e-economy, the Poland-wide economic zone, construction, energy, business automation and robotization and the development of corporate social responsibility.
The President of the Polish Space Agency, Grzegorz Brona, PhD., moderated the Automation and Robotics Development Trends - Robots of the Future debate session.

The honorary patronage over the event was taken by the Prime Minister, with the partners being the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Investment and Development, the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technology, as well as the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy.
