About the subject

Cilium Engineering was founded in 2014, with the aim of commercializing solutions developed while working on scientific projects. The scope of the Company’s activities includes the implementation of projects in the space industry for domestic and foreign customers (including ESA, POLSA). Projects cover technology readiness levels from 4 to 9. The company’s main goal is to bring advanced algorithms, devices and technologies to the market. The company has global experience in this area. The company focuses on the design, construction and implementation of ground-based observation systems dedicated to the observation of satellites and space junk (mainly wide-angle sensors), astronomical observatory management systems and automation systems dedicated to astronomical observatories.

Main products and services

The company provides customized solutions designed to meet the rigorous requirements of advanced robotic systems. Cilium designs stand-alone observatories from design to implementation, as well as specific hardware/software modules that can be added to an existing system. The modular design is efficient, easy to maintain and upgrade. It provides a good level of flexibility and interoperability with other components. The company also has experience in implementing and launching solutions in different parts of the world – Europe, Australia, Africa.

The most important achievements in the space sector

OpticalFence triangulation network for three-dimensional satellite position measurements. The concept of the OpticalFence project is based on the idea of triangulation, which is the observation of a single satellite from two or more observation stations that jointly monitor a selected area of the sky at the same time. With the triangulation technique, not only the position relative to the stars is measured, but the exact coordinates in three dimensions. This technique combines the advantages of classical measurements with optical as well as laser telescopes. The use of high-speed video cameras also makes it possible to precisely locate observations in time, which is extremely important for fast-moving satellites.
