Poland has joined the Space Surveillance and Tracking (SST) Consortium established to track space debris.

Poland has joined the Space Surveillance and Tracking (SST) Consortium established to track space debris.

At the end of 2018 Poland became a fully-fledged member of the Space Surveillance and Tracking (SST) Consortium. The accession agreement was signed on the 19th of December 2018 in the Polish Space Agency headquarters in Warsaw. Joining the Consortium will allow national institutions and entrepreneurs to participate in projects financed from the European Union funds, whose budget in the current and future financial perspective can go up to over EUR 350 million.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has entrusted Colonel Marcin Górka with the duties of Vice President of Defence of the Polish Space Agency, beginning December 18, 2018, for a period of 3 months, until a formal appointment of the Vice President of Defence.

POLSA at World Space Week Wrocław 2018

The Wrocław edition of World Space Week 2018, which this year was held on October 5-7, is one of the largest events popularizing knowledge and research of Space in Poland. The Polish Space Agency was the media patron of the event, and the president of POLSA, phD Grzegorz Brona, opened a scientific conference and took part in the business section meeting and discussion panel with the participation of 19 companies, institutions and scientific circles dealing with space issues.

    POLSA coordinates the participation of representatives of Polish programs of the European Union (EU), the European Space Agency (ESA), the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) and the European Defence Agency (EDA) in the field of space research, space technology and satellite technology.

Polish Space Agency (POLSA) was established by the Act of 26 September 2014. The task of the Agency is to support the Polish space industry by combining the world of business and science. We also help to get provision for entrepreneurs in obtaining funds from the European Space Agency (ESA). An important aspect of the Agency's activity is to promote the development of satellite technology that can be used in everyday life, including communication, navigation, environmental monitoring and weather forecasting.

The priority task of the Polish Space Agency is to take care of the security of the country and its citizens and to increase Polish defense capabilities through the use of satellite systems.
